Everyone deserves a mountain getaway. At Buffalo River Misty Creek Lodge, we want to be upfront about what our cabin in Vendor, Arkansas, can and cannot offer for guests with mobility needs or other accessibility requirements. This page describes the property layout, access points, and nearby accessible activities so you can decide if this cabin works for your trip.
Vendor is a small community in Newton County, in the Ozark Mountains along the Buffalo National River corridor. The terrain here is hilly, wooded, and rural. That is part of what makes it beautiful — and also part of what makes accessibility a fair question to ask before booking.
We are Liz and Juergen. We have hosted guests since 2009 and we are happy to answer specific questions about the property before you reserve. If something on this page is unclear or you need details we have not covered, call us at (479) 366-4523 or email mistycreekcabin@gmail.com. We would rather help you plan ahead than have you arrive to a surprise.

Accessible Outdoor Activities near the Buffalo River
The Ozarks are rugged terrain, but accessible outdoor experiences do exist in the area. Here are options worth considering.
Buffalo National River — Accessible Areas. The National Park Service maintains several accessible facilities along the Buffalo River. The Tyler Bend Visitor Center has accessible restrooms, exhibits, and a paved path. Some picnic areas along the river have accessible parking and paved approaches. Contact the Buffalo National River park office for current accessibility information at specific sites.

The Pig Trail Scenic Byway offers mountain views with pull-off overlooks. Boxley Valley has roadside elk viewing from your vehicle, with no hiking required.
Steel Creek area. Some areas near Steel Creek have relatively flat, short paths near the river. Accessibility varies by season and water level. Contact the park for current conditions.
Lost Valley Trail. The first portion of this trail is relatively flat before it enters the cave area. However, the trail surface is uneven and not formally accessible. It may work for some guests with limited mobility but is not wheelchair accessible.
For the most current accessibility information about Buffalo National River sites, visit the NPS accessibility page or call the park directly. Conditions can change with weather and seasonal maintenance.
What We Can Do to Help
We are not able to retrofit the cabin overnight, but we are willing to work with guests to make a stay as comfortable as possible within the property’s existing layout.
If you let us know your needs before arrival, we can remove area rugs and rearrange furniture to create wider pathways where possible
We can also provide detailed photos of every room, doorway, bathroom, and the path from parking to the entrance. If a phone call or video walkthrough would help, we are happy to do that. Our goal is to give you enough information to make a confident decision before you book.
If the cabin does not meet your needs, we understand. We would rather help you find the right place than have you arrive at a property that does not work.
Traveling with a Caregiver or Companion
For guests who travel with a caregiver, companion, or service animal, the cabin provides a private, comfortable setting that works better than most hotel arrangements. Everyone stays under one roof. There are no shared hallways or lobbies to navigate. The kitchen allows you to prepare meals that meet specific dietary needs without relying on restaurants.
Service animals are welcome at the property. Service animals are welcome. Standard pet policies apply to emotional support animals and pets — a maximum of 2 pets, $15 flat fee, leashed on property.
The private, whole-property rental means your caregiver or companion has their own space to rest when off duty. The cabin sleeps up to 11 so there is room for everyone without feeling cramped.
