The hot tub is available year-round, and winter is when it shines. Soaking in hot water while cold air hits your face and steam rises into the trees — that is an experience that does not happen in July. On clear winter nights, you can watch the stars from the tub without a single mosquito.
The full kitchen means you can cook warm meals without leaving the cabin. Soups, chili, coffee, hot chocolate — the kitchen handles it all. The porch is still usable on milder winter days, especially in the afternoon sun. And the bed feels even better when the air outside is cold and the cabin is warm.

The temperatures are cool enough to hike comfortably without overheating. The bugs are gone. The trails are nearly empty. And without the leaf canopy, the views from every ridge and bluff are wider and more dramatic than at any other time of year.
Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) in winter offers a completely different experience than in October. You might have overlooked yourself. The exposed rock faces and bare forest below create a stark, beautiful scene. Lost Valley Trail is quieter too, and the cave at the end feels even more dramatic when the surrounding forest is stripped down to trunks and branches.
Hemmed-in Hollow, home to the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and the Appalachians, often has stronger flow in winter and early spring thanks to seasonal rain. The hike is moderate, and in winter you are unlikely to share the trail with more than a handful of people.
Steel Creek is worth a visit any time of year. In winter, the bluffs along the Buffalo River stand out sharply against gray skies, and the river runs clear and cold.

At the cabin, deer move through the property more visibly in winter without the leaf cover. Wild turkeys, hawks, and woodpeckers are easier to spot and hear. On quiet mornings, the lack of insect noise makes birdsong sharper and more distinct.
