The Accommodation — What You Get
The lodge is 2,600 square feet. Four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and sleeping capacity for up to eleven guests.
The master suite is upstairs with a king bed, satellite TV, and a private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed with wood floors and a reading nook. The third bedroom has two queen beds with access to the upstairs deck. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor with a separate outside entrance — useful for guests who want a little extra privacy from the rest of the group, or for families where the grandparents want their own door.
The main living area is open plan — living room, dining area, and kitchen in one connected space. The 65-inch HDTV with cable is in the living room. The wood-burning fireplace is on the main floor. Board games are available for evenings in.

The Buffalo River area is a four-hour drive from Little Rock, two hours from Fayetteville, and further from most places outside Arkansas. If you hit traffic or stop for dinner on the way in, a late arrival is not a problem. The cabin is ready when you get there regardless of the hour.

Overnight Stays vs. Multi-Night Stays — What Works Best
The lodge accepts short stays, but the experience improves the longer you stay.
A single overnight works if you are passing through the Ozarks and want a comfortable stopping point between destinations. The property is set up for it — self check-in, full kitchen, everything ready. You can arrive in the evening, sleep well, and leave in the morning with a hot tub soak and a cooked breakfast if you want them.
Two to four nights is the sweet spot for most guests. That is enough time for a float trip on the Buffalo, a hike to Whitaker Point, an evening at the fire pit, and a morning at the hot tub — without rushing any of it or feeling like you are checking boxes.
A week or longer suits remote workers, families doing a summer trip, and groups planning a reunion or gathering. The full kitchen, washer and dryer, and workspace with ergonomic chair and printer make a longer stay genuinely comfortable rather than just tolerable.

What’s Around You — Buffalo River Access and Local Area
The overnight experience at Misty Creek Lodge is shaped by what is outside the property as much as what is on it.
The Buffalo National River is seven minutes away. America’s first national river runs 135 miles through the Ozarks without a single dam. Steel Creek, Kyles Landing, and Ponca are the closest access points for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing for smallmouth bass. Outfitters in Jasper and Ponca rent watercraft for half-day and full-day floats — no prior experience required, and most guests new to the river manage it without difficulty.
Jasper is five miles north — the Newton County seat with a grocery store, gas station, and a handful of local restaurants including the well-known Cliff House Inn and Ozark Cafe. It is close enough to run errands or grab dinner without the trip feeling like an interruption.
Whitaker Point — Hawksbill Crag — is the most photographed trail in Arkansas, about forty-five minutes from the lodge. Sam’s Throne, a sandstone rock climbing and hiking destination, is ten minutes away. The Boxley Valley elk herd is thirty minutes northwest.

Practical Details for Overnight Guests
A few things worth knowing before you book:
Pets are allowed. The property has a private fenced backyard, which makes traveling with a dog straightforward. Nearby trails, including paths along the Buffalo River corridor, accept leashed dogs.
Parking is on-site — a gravel driveway with space for multiple vehicles, plus a covered carport. No shared lot, no parking fee.
Cell service in Newton County is limited. Depending on your carrier, you may have weak signal or none at the cabin. The lodge has dedicated Wi-Fi that covers the property. Download any maps or content you need before leaving the highway if you rely heavily on mobile data.
The cabin is typically closed from early January through late February for maintenance and owner rest. Spring through fall is the primary booking season, with peak demand in summer and during fall color season in October and early November.
